We currently have valves installed on steam duties with Blue Chip companies including E-ON UK, RWE Npower, Centrica Energy, Scottish Power, and Scottish & Southern. We also have valves installed with the following process companies: Monsanto, BP Oil, Solutia UK, Conoco, Glaxo-Welcome, and Total. Below are a few recent case studies…

  • DUTCH Engineering supplied three sequencing control valves for the 4th Stage Bypass at one of the UK’s major refineries. We collaborated with one of the refinery’s strategic suppliers to provide a hydraulic control package to sequence the controlled opening of hi-temp severe service catalyst valves.

  • A special pneumatically operated isolation system for the Bled Steam system to all four units at one of the big coal-fired power stations near the Humber was supplied by DUTCH Engineering. The station experienced a number of Health and Safety issues – including steam burns – by operators due to over-crowding of the Bled Steam isolator. Another problem to be remedied was operational time lags due to the laborious nature of operating 22 manual linear valves.
Twenty-two ball valves with simple double-acting pneumatic actuators were installed and controlled through a remote mounted Toggle Switch Control Box. The operators are now able to control all 22 valves within minutes, cutting out the operational time lag. No electrics were involved, just plant air and an air reservoir sized for pneumatic stability. To date there have been no reported Health and Safety incidents and all valves supplied have proved to be zero leakage.

  • DUTCH Engineering supplied an Emergency Shut Down valve on the Fractionator Tower ‘Bottoms’ isolation valve at one of the major refineries in the Benelux region. The existing valves had consistently failed and the customer never had a true isolation point or the ability to cycle test without affecting the process (and process pumps in particular). This particular valve had to be fire safe and mounted in a very compact area.
Through on-going work with the customer and their engineering contractor, DUTCH Engineering were able to supply a pneumatically operated ball valve with manual override and mechanical partial stroke with the actuator, MO, and PST all housed within a specially-constructed Darchem fire-safe housing.
DES Ltd have supplied a number of similar ESD valves to other refineries in the UK and Benelux region which are operating very successfully and all have exceeded customer expectations.
